bump...

More like belly...
30w4d

Bed rest is going good. I am normally either laying in the bed or on the couch. I can get up and move about within the house, since I'm on modify rest, but spend most of my time laying.
Not sure if I noted this earlier in my posts, but Dr. Jones told me to up my calorie intake (just in case the girls came early, they would be a good size). I defiantly have done so since my hospital stay. On yesterday, Thanksgiving, family delivered us food. I ate soooo much! There really is not much room for food, or at least it feels that way. I feel full most of the time. The Dr. suggested I eat Milk Shakes since they take up less room and have a lot of calories. I can defiantly say Chick-fil-a's Peppermint Chocolate Chip shake is a 10!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Home!

We are home!
I was released a little bit before lunch on today.
It's so nice to be home, around my things and get to see my dogs :)
I am on modify bed rest, but I am treating it as though I am on full bed rest.
There is no leaving the house, unless to go to a Dr.'s appt.
We have already had people stop by to check on me and bring goodies to eat and drink (thanks kate and adam).
Mom is coming over in a bit to cook us dinner, something I am sure that will be yummy and allow us to eat on for a couple days.
We go back to the Dr. on Wednesday. At that time they will measure me and make sure I have gone down any.
Great news is that today, when we did an u/s to check my length, I was 2.8!!!
Whoooo hooooo!
They said that it was most likely the contractions that brought me down to a 1.9 and of course the fact that they girls are growing and adding pressure.
I was so nervous before the u/s!
Also, when we were getting ready to leave I was nervous and thought maybe we should stay. Not that our insurance company would let us :)
I just knew we were in great hands and liked the fact that I could look over and see what the girls were doing throughout the day.
I could also see if there were any contractions going on, since I had no idea I was having them before.
I now, sort of know what to look for.
Thank you all for the prayers!
Please keep them coming!!!
We need them to stay put for at least 6 more weeks!

update on the last 24 hours

Hello,
I am updating you on what all has taken place in the last 24 hours.
Friday morning we went to our Dr.'s appt. with the specialist, Dr. Jones. Everything went great! The only real down fall was that my cervix has gone down from a 2.5 to a 1.9. This happened over 2 weeks. I was pretty shocked by this, since I really do not do anything. I stay sitting or laying most of the day.
We always meet with the Dr. before we leave and review everything from the u/s.
He did tell me that he was putting me on modify bed rest. This is pretty much what I was doing, but no running to the store and if I did to use a motorize cart.
We finished our meeting with him saying that he wanted to do a stress test to just see how the babies were doing and making sure I was not having any contractions.
I had been having braxton hick contractions, but they were not close together and did not bother me. My belly would just get tight and soon be back to normal.
They hooked me up and located baby a and baby b. They also put on a monitor that checked for contractions.
During the middle of the session Dr. Jones came in and looked at the print out and told us the babies are looking great and that he would be back in 20 mins....
When he came back he looked at us and said that I was contracting every 5 mins. I took a deep breath and said, but I can't feel them. He said, well you should be. Still in shock I said, ok, what do we do. Dr. Jones replied that we were about to head to the hospital and be admitted. He left the room to call Dr. Popwell and tell him what was going on and to call L&D to let them know we were on our way up.
As soon as he left I just looked up at Eric and bursted into tears. This is not what's suppose to happen!! At that time our sweet nurse came in and told use everything was going to be ok. She also reassured me that it was nothing that I did to cause this.
We were walked to into a meeting room and given our plan of action. Check into hospital, be given 2 bags of fluid at a very fast rate, Meds to stop the contractions and steroid shots to help the girls lungs mature, just in case the babies made their arrival. Once we were giving the plan I felt better already. I have read so much about preterm labor that I knew this could work!
We left the Dr. office and called our parents on the way to the hospital.
Once at the hospital we went up to the 3rd floor, got checked in and in a room within 5 mins.
We were asked a lot of questions and had to fill out forms for delivery. I did not understand why they were doing this? We were here for them to stop my labor, not deliver me.
Once in the room my meds were ordered and I was started on fluids. During the time it took to get the meds I was starting to be able to feel my contractions, nothing too bad, but I knew they were there.
Once I received my medicine to stop the contractions, they stoped pretty fast! Thank gosh!
Soon after I received my first steroid shot and 24 hours later have just received my second shot.
Whew! Things are looking better! I have not had any contractions since yesterday around 3:00.
If everything keeps going as well ,we are looking to be going home on Monday.
Once home I will be on complete bed rest. I will only be able to get up to shower and use the bathroom. I can lay in the bed or on the couch. When Dr. Jones was telling me this, he said, you do not seem upset? Most of my patients cry when I tell them us. My reply was, As long and my babies are ok I will do whatever it takes, with a smile on my face! He just smiled.
So, this is where we are as of now. I'll try to update as much as possible.
Please keep us all in your prayers! We are 30 weeks on tomorrow.

4D u/s

We went back to the Dr. today to take another try at seeing the girls.
Baby B, Mable did a great job of posing for the camera!
This was the first time we were able to see her face. Normally she only shows us her ear. :)
When her picture came clear on the screen, I looked at Eric and said, oh my gosh! She's cute!
Eric agreed! He is one proud Daddy, already!
Ruby's face was covered most of the time, so we did not get many pictures of her.
The girls seem to favor a bit! Once they are here I'm sure there will be some differences, especially since they are fraternal.
It's really hard to pick out my favorites. There were almost 80 pics, just from today.
We also got a DVD of the session.
Eric plans on making everyone watch it at Thanksgiving!
:)
Watch out family!

We did not get measurements of the girls, since we just got them a week ago.
We will be able to get updated weighs on Friday at our specialist appt.
Ruby's heartbeat was 141 and Mable's 138.
Mable has turned!!, but with her being baby B we are still set for a section.
Now we just need Ruby to turn!

Now, on to the pics..

This is a picture of the babies starting at each other. One on top and the other on bottom.

Another one of the girls looking at each other. Ruby is on the left and Mable on the right, upside down.

4D u/s and Dr. visit

Today we had our 4 D ultrasound.
The babies were not really wanting to show their face.
Most of the time they had their hands and feet in their face.
Mable was turned around the whole time.
We are going back next Monday in hopes of better pictures.
Ruby, Baby A was the only one we got pictures of.
Mable, Baby B only showed us her ear, like last time. Silly girl!

Both babies heartbeat were 145.
Baby A, Ruby weighs 2 pounds 9 ounces
Baby B, Mable weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces
The Dr. was happy with the way they are growing.

I did go down to a 2.5. Dr. Popwell said he was fine with that. We will see what Dr. Jones says about it on next Friday.

The girls were laying transverse (sideways) when we first started to u/s.
Ruby moved and is now back in her normal spot. Still breach.
Mable is still laying transverse on the top part of my belly.

Here are some pictures of our very photo happy baby, Ruby.
We are hoping to get some of Mable next week.

hand and foot up by the face! :)

a little update

Just a little update...

*I still have not received the results of my FFT. I am sure I will on tomorrow.
Not feeling any signs of labor, so that's a good thing!

*I am starting to have some back pain, not due to contractions, just due to being pregnant.

*Sleeping the last couple of days has been hard. The switch from right side to left side is sort of painful. I feel like I am pulling a million muscles. Dr. said it's just round ligament pain. This seems to be the cause of a lot of things.

*The girls are moving a lot! Since they are getting bigger, some of the movement makes my whole belly move. I love it!!

*Last week when we went to the Dr. the girls were still breach. They say twins can turn up to 34 weeks. Still have some time.

*On Monday we have our 4D ultrasound! They say for twins you have to do it sooner, rather than later since they tend to have less room sooner. I hope we get some great pictures!

*The nursery is getting close to being done. Will post pics when complete.

*Everything gives me heartburn, even water!! I had never had it before now. It's not fun!

*I feel so very blessed to be pregnant! Not just pregnant, but pregnant with 2 babies! 2 baby girls!! I start thinking about it and get all emotional. Love them so much all ready!

Ok, that's all I can think of now. Very tired! Long night last night.
Congrats to my BF Carie and her sweet husband Travis on the birth of their very handsome baby boy, Charlie!
:)
