Mudbug Madness

On yesterday we took the girls to Mudbug. The weather was great! Not too hot. We had a lot of people stop us and ask if they were twins. Ha! I love that question! There were even some people who wanted to take the girls pictures... Weird. They were sweet though.
Last year we went knowing we were 3 weeks pregnant. We then talked about wanting to take our child (not knowing there was 2) to the festival the next year. I even bought the girls dresses for the occasion! Of course!
We had a great time!

Food for Mae!

Mable has been having some trouble eating here lately. Today we visited a pedi GI Doctor. He changed her formula, reflux meds and told us to start feeding her baby food. Yay! Here she is eating sweet potatoes for the first time. She also had some bananas. She loved the food!

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day we went to my Mom's, Nana's house for lunch. Eric's parents came over as well. It was a great day!
There is nothing better than being a Mommy to my twin girls!

Art

For Mother's Day we did a little art project for gifts. We got the girls down to their diaper and put them in their bumbos. They loved being naked outside! Ha

We did each babies hand, then their foot.

They did great! It was a bit stressful on us. We all had baths quickly after! :)

Our Story

Only a few people know this story. Our close friends and immediate family members. It's nothing that we ever tried to hide. It's just something not many people ask about. If I'm asked, I tell.

One year ago today I became a Mom, on Mother's day. After close to a year of trying to get pregnant, Eric and I seeked assistance with the wonderful office of Doctors London and Vandermolen. During my consultation It was determined I had endodmetriosis. I was given a 3% chance of having a child on my own, in a lifetime. Hearing those words my by stomach sank to my toes. It was hard to take in. All I ever wanted in my life was to be a Mom! Drive a station wagon, pick kids up from school and be on the PTA board. It's what I was put on this earth to be, a Mom.
We were given a couple different options. One being, to start with IUI. This cycle would give us a 14% chance of becoming parents. We started our cycle not knowing what day the actually procedure would take place. We were shocked to find out, the day before that It would be on Mother's Day. I think this was God's way of telling us it was all going to work out. During our ultrasound to check egg quality it was determined I had 2 eggs. One being a perfect quality of 21 mm and the other one being 17mm (these are follicle length). If you know anything about fertility treatments 17mm is the cutoff. If I just had the smaller egg the Dr. might not have gone through with the procedure.
9 days later I tested and got a very faint positive. From there on out I took a test everyday, sometimes twice a day to make sure the line was getting darker. I was a bit crazy. ha.

Our first beta came back positive and my levels were pretty high. The nurse called to tell me I was definitely pregnant and that we could possible have multiples. I already knew I was having twins. I just felt it. Twins run on both sides of my family and even on Eric's side, if that counts. I also was having pulling on both sides of my body. I would tell E that I'm pretty sure it's twins and he would just say, let's wait and see. We just want a healthy baby. My friend Carie would tell me I was crazy and I was just pregnant with one really strong baby. Whatever, I knew!

At 5 weeks we had our first ultrasound. The room was so dark. I looked at the screen and saw 2 sacs! The Dr. said, well, it's looks like we have 2! I started laughing and said, I wish could see my husbands face. Eric then grabbed my hand. Oh, we were going to be parents! The journey was about to begin. God took our 14% chance of conceiving and blessed us twice with 2 beautiful girls.

Last years Mother's day was special, but this year It will be amazing, as I get to hold my sweet girls and tell them how much I love them.

4 months!

Ruby and Mable, you are 4 months old! Every month when I write this post I am amazed at how fast the time is passing! Before we know it you will be graduating from high school and begging for a new car.

You both are starting to notice each other more. It's so cute! I really hope you are best of friends.

Ruby, you weigh 12 pounds 3 ounces! You are 23 3/4 inches long. You love your bottle! You are always smiling and love to be in your mommy or daddy's lap. Everyday you are getting stronger and stronger. You make some of the cutest faces. You eat every 4 hours during the day and have a little over 5 ounces at each feeding. After your 7:00 feeding you are so ready for bed. Baby likes her beauty rest! You will sleep until we wake you up at 7 am. You are such a sweet baby. We love you so much!

Mable, you weigh 10 pounds 10 ounces! You are 22 1/4 inches long. You are the funniest baby! You love to talk! I think you get that from your daddy! As soon as we put the bottle in your mouth you start smiling and jabbering away. It's so funny! We think you say real words, like "good girl" It's more like "goooo gahhhh", but we like to think our children are advanced. :) You are not really into eating at this time. We think it's because your reflux is so bad. We are working on getting this under control. You eat about 5 ounces every 4 hours during the day. You go to bed after your 7:00 feeding. You sleep until we wake you up at 7 am. You are such a blessing. We love you so much!

Give this lady some coffee!

I was going back through some of our pictures and came across this one. It made me laugh and feel extremely tired.
Ruby and Mable were about 2 weeks old here. My hair is wet and my boobs are leaking. Ha! Oh, the life of a new Mom.

Weekend

On Friday I took the girls shopping with me. We ran into Hobby Lobby to get some items for a little project we are working on. The girls did great! They loved looking at everything on the shelf.

On Saturday we had a day of cleaning and organizing. We got so much done I did not even take any pictures!

On Sunday morning we went to church. Around 11 Grammy and Papa Ron came over to visit. During the girls nap we ate crawfish. It was so good!

Ruby and Mable enjoyed being spoiled!

The rest of the afternoon we played

And got ready for the new week.
Looking forward to this weekend! My first Mother's Day!
