Weekend with Great Grandparents!

We had a great weekend visiting with my Grandparents, the girls Great Grandparents, and Uncle David. Being that they live in Oklahoma we do not get to see them as much as we would like.

Friday we had dinner at our "go to" restaurant, Rico's. Before we left I tried to get a picture of the girls sitting on a bench, but they wanted to do everything except be still.

Saturday morning we had breakfast at McDonalds. I would give Ruby food on a fork and this is what she would do. Hum!

Mable loved the hashbrown, but it had to be in the wrapper!

Around 2 our visitors arrived! Ruby and Mable were very excited to see them! Nana read Ruby's favorite book to her, Mirror Me.

We played outside, or as the girls say, side!! Ruby's hair had a lot of static in it from her car.

Wylie P enjoyed loving on his great grandbabies! He even sang them a song! So precious!

Nana got to see the babies in action and how active they are. She said, Mable never stops! Ha! So true!

For lunch Sunday we went to The Black Eye Pea. Gosh! I forgot how good it was! My diet, and I think everyone else's went out the window!

On the way home we drove around and showed the family our neighborhood and all the attractions. We stopped at the park. The girls went for a swing

And then we walked over to the pond to check out the turtles.

I really think they should called our pond Turtle Pond because there are so many in there! I love this picture! Ruby laid on Eric's head like this the whole time while watching turtles and kids fish. Mable enjoyed being on Uncle Davids shoulders. She thought she was big stuff!

We walked back to the car and Wylie P, Eric and the girls drove back to the house while Nana, David and I walked home. It was a beautiful day!

The rest of our day was spent playing, playing outside and visiting. We even watched a Hallmark movie after the girls we to bed.
It was a wonderful weekend! We were sad to see them leave Monday, but are hoping to meet in Dallas soon.
Family is a blessing! And we have been blessed with with a great one!

ENT

Today we visited the ENT. We are scheduled for tubes May 15th. At that time they will also clean her adenoids. While checking her out, the Doctor also noticed she was a bit tongue tied. Not bad, just a little. While in surgery he will also take care of that. Ruby did have fluid on her ears, even though on Monday she was checked and her ears were clear. Crazy! She got another shot! That's 3 in 7 days!
He thinks with the tubes Ruby should have little to no more ear infections. He also thinks her vocabulary will improve a lot.
Ruby enjoyed playing with the toys in the room while waiting. Our appointment went pretty fast. I was very impressed with the office. We go back for pre op on the 9th.

Here's to no more ear infections!

Ruby's Ears

Ruby has seemed to have a constant Ear infection since January. It comes and goes, but starting on Sunday evening we noticed she was warm, so we took her temp. It was 103.9. We did Tylenol and Motrin to get it down. She woke up in the middle of the night pulling at her ear. The next morning I took her into the doctor and she was given Baxin. As soon as I gave it to her she began to throw up. I thought maybe it was because it went down the wrong way, so we tried again later. She threw up again. I felt horrible at this point! Especially when I tasted the medicine. It tasted like metal and it was flavored with two different flavors. I called the doctors office and the next morning she was put on athrzothmixion. They wanted to try meds she has never taken before since the others did not seem to be working. By Wednesday she still had a slight fever and was screaming! It was 11:30 and she had a Doctors appt. at 3:45, but I could not take my baby screaming in pain so I took her to the ER. I am so glad I did! They were do nice and very fast! We were only there for a an hour and 30 mins. They gave her drops of pain medicine to put in her ears. They helped right away! She started playing with my keys.

They told us to go ahead and go to our scheduled appt. at 3:45. After we left the ER I went and picked Mable up from school. Eric came home to watch Mae while Rue and I went back to the Doctor. Once back at the pediatricians office Ruby's temp was really low. They took it 3 different ways and about 7 times with different instruments. The highest it got was 96! I was really starting to freak out! The staff And Doctor seemed very worried as well. They did blood work and Ruby was still very irritable, even with the drops in her ears for pain. The Doctor then told me she wanted us to go back to the ER because she was concerned how low Rubys temp was and how irritable she was. She said the only symptom she had for Menegitistis was irritability, but wanted the hospital to do a work up. We soon left the Doctors office and headed to the ER for the second time. We got in touch with Jennifer, Eric's sister, and she came and watched Mable so Eric could come to the hospital.
Once at the hospital Ruby's temp came up to 98. Thank goodness! The Doctor, who we had seen early in the day, came in and said, she does not have Menegitistis. Look at her! What a relief to hear! They soon did a urine test to make sure she did not have a UTI, which came back negative. They also suctioned her to get all the nasty out of her nose and chest. Ruby ended getting a shot to help with the ear infection. We went back to the Doctor 2 days later where she received another shot. Tomorrow we have an appt. with the ENT. I think we are all ready for tubes!

Galveston

Wednesday through Sunday of last week we vacationed in Galveston. It was the first of many Martin Fest. Galveston is very close to us, so I'm sure we will be going a good bit this year.
Our first day there we got settled in and went to dinner on sea wall. The girls seemed to like the ocean breeze.

Even though it was Galveston, this was the girls first trip to the beach.

Early the next morning the boys and I headed out fishing. I was not going to miss this! I grew up fishing, and could not wait to catch the biggest fish. I told all the boys that I would out fish them and guess who did! :) I caught the biggest fish, a redfish!

I was pretty proud, and I think they were proud of me too!

Eric and I can't wait to go back fishing!
That night we cooked up the fish for dinner and the girls played in the pool at the house.

Friday morning, when the girls woke up, we went down to the beach.

We let them walk around a bit to see what it was all about.

Mable seemed to like it a bit more than Ruby.

They both touched the sand and then looked at us like, please clean my hand! :)

For breakfast we went to IHOP with Jen and Grammy.
After naps the whole family went down to the beach.
Mable rocked the beach! She loved everything about it!

She really loved when the waves splashed on her feet! She would say, wow, wow, wow!

Her and Papa walked up and down the beach.

Ruby's favorite spot on the beach was next to her wagon. She played in this same spot the whole time we were there. She would get on and off the tongue of the wagon. She thought she was such a big girl!
We did take her down to the water, but wanted nothing to do with it.

Eric took his turn at Skim Boarding. That's him in the yellow shorts!

The girls were ready for naps after all the playing they did.

The last day we went down to the Strand for shopping and lunch. We had lunch at The Fisherman's Wharf. Ruby was so funny! She got a hold of Jen's phone and talked on it the whole lunch. She's so serious!

My girls at The Wharf! We feed the birds and then headed back home.

That night we had a shrimp boil and a Bean Bag tournament. Our team did not win, but it was still a lot of fun!
On Sunday we packed up and headed home. Because there was no traffic, we made it home in an hour! We were all so tired! Everyone napped for a couple hours!

We are already looking forward to our next Galveston trip!

Easter Weekend

I am a little behind on blogging. I'm trying to play catch up.

Easter weekend we traveled to Louisiana for the Callaway family reunion. This is my Mom's side. We decided to take our time getting there and stop for lunch at Dickey's BBQ. The girls ate Mac n cheese, but really loved the ice cream!

Once we made it to Mom and Tim's we played on the porch with the kitchen Pop picked up at a yard sale. For an early Easter gift, Nana and Pop bought them toy food for the kitchen, along with a shopping cart. Mable played with this pizza for at least 20 mins!

The girls loved playing on the patio with Nana! So much we were almost late to dinner. :)
For dinner we meet family at Jans. The girls waved hi to everyone that came in.

Saturday we went to Vivian for the reunion. The Easter Bunny stopped by for a visit. Ruby was not a fan of this one!

There was an Easter Egg hunt and a lot of visiting with family. It was great to see everyone!

On the way back to the house we stopped at The Fishing Tournament Weigh in Gabe was fishing. His team got 18th out of 87 contestants. A couple days before he got 3rd place.

Once back at Mom's we set up the baby pool and let the girls play all afternoon. They had a blast! They would get in and out of the pool. They got dirty and I'm sure even ate dirt! They were country!

Ruby started walking a good bit this weekend.
Pop was mowing the grass. Every time he would drive by Ruby would stand up and clap. It was so funny! Mable then joined in.

We ended the evening with baths and playing with the kitchen before bedtime.

Easter morning the girls checked out what The Easter Bunny brought them.

Then they hunted eggs. By this point they were a pro at hunting.

After all the Egg hunting, the girls got into Nana and Pops cabinet. This is the cabinet they allow the girls to play in. They always go straight for it! It normally looks like this every time.

We made our way back to The Woodlands with enough time to make it to the park.

Ruby wanted to show off her walking skills on the way back to the house.

We had a great Easter Weekend! We hope you did as well!
