What you are up to!

I have been meaning to write this post, but time is never on my side. There is so much you girls are doing now that I better get it down before you start doing something new.

Ruby, you are really into headstands. Yes, headstands, where you put your head and hands on the ground and try to lift your feet off the ground. I took a picture of you doing this the other day in your bed. The quality is not that great since the picture was taken off the monitor.

Mable, you are a very good helper. If sister drops her milk or I need a wipe I can ask you to get it and you do. You get so proud of yourself when I say thank you! You just smile the biggest smile and swish your hands back and forth.
Speaking of helping, the teacher at school said that you like to help her clean. I have noticed this as you get a wipe and start wiping down things. Can't wait to put your skills to work. :)

You both LOVE Elmo and Barney! When the theme song for Barney comes on you both put your hands up in the air and rock out! If we show you a picture of Elmo and say, who is this? You both reply back with, lalala lalala! You love the Elmo song! When it comes on and Elmo says, Everybody, Everybody, you both get the biggest smiles on your face, you start laughing and put your hands up in the air. You have Elmo PJs and when we ask where Elmo is you point to your tummy. You do this even if you do not have on your PJs.

Your favorite food is Pizza and Chick fil la Nuggets. Opps! We do feed you a very healthy mix of fruits and veggies as well. You really like these Pea Pancakes I make for you. They are just pureed peas made into a pancake with flour and some other items.

You love phones! Even if you do not have a phone by your ear, you will both say, hello! and put your hand up to your ear instead. You will also use whatever you find as a phone.

Both of your hair is starting to get thick and grow! Finally! Ruby's is a little longer, with some curls at the end. It would be a lot longer, but at her neck about an inch up it does not grow. There is a little bit of baby hair there. Ruby you like to twist and play with your hair. Mable, your hair is darker and little more fine. You play with your hair when you are sleepy.

You both LOVE shoes! You love them like I have never seen anyone love shoes! You wake up and want to put on shoes. If you go into Daddy and mines closet you repeat, shoes, shoes, shoes! If mine or Daddy's shoes are on the ground you bring them to us and say, shoes.. daddy!
Same with socks. I bought some Sesame Street socks the other day for you girls. You both were so excited! Mable, once you got them on your feet you would take a couple steps, look down and laugh at the fact you have socks on.

We have been teaching you the parts of the body. You know some of them like, Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Tummy and Foot, but mostly you say Eye for everything. You also like to show us and put your finger in our eye. :)

You two love to play with each other. Sometimes, during your afternoon nap you will not nap because you are both talking and laughing with each other.

You both love to climb the stairs. I always make sure Daddy or I are right behind you. Mable, you really like to climb anything! If outside you get on top of your picnic table and stand. You also figured out how to use the ottoman upstairs to climb onto the built in desk we have in the playroom. Last night we rearrange everything so this hopefully does not happen again.

You have been asking for Bows lately, although you will not keep it in your hair. Still working on this one!

Mable, there is no walking for you. You run, everywhere! I really think you might be an Olympic runner one day.

You both love to play with the dogs. Mardi likes to play with you, but Memphis rather watch from a far. They both love you and put up with you crawling all over them. Mable started getting dog toys and yelling, "stop it dog", which to her means, Get the toy! Ruby soon learned this trick and now does it too. Ruby will walk up to Mardi and start hugging him and giving him kisses.

You both have been sleeping later. Mable, you will sleep until 8:00 on most days. Ruby, you will sleep until about 7:30, but just lay in your bed and talk until we come in to get both of you. This is much better than 6:30.

You are still taking two naps a day. The first one is at 10:30-11:00 ish. You sleep for about an hour 1/2 to two hours at this nap. Around 3:00 I put you down for another nap. Sometimes you both will sleep for an hour and sometimes it's just one of you. If I notice one of you is not going to sleep after 20 mins. I go into the room and get you. I am holding on to the two naps a day as long as I can! In the fall, at school, your schedule will change and I'm sure at that time you will give up your 2nd nap since they will put you down at 12.

You are still going to "school". I call it school because I do not like the word Day Care. Blah! It makes me feel sad, so I say school. You do learn there, so that's what it is. It's actually called an Academy so I am partially correct. :)
You go 5 days a week 9:00 to 2:00. I always take you late and pick you up early. You both love your friends and teachers. If I did not work I would keep you under my wing all day long.

When we pick you up to get loving you both will put your head down on our shoulders and pat our back as we pay yours. So sweet! Melts our hearts to butter!

Mable, the other day you got a hold of your diaper after I changed you. As I tried to get it from you you ran to your room and stood by the diaper genie. You wanted to put it in. I opened it and you did. We clapped and cheered. Then you ran to the playroom and put your hands out of hand sanitizer.
Ruby has since picked up on the trick and likes to put her diapers in the genie as well. I only let you do this if it is a tee- tee diaper.

Our Babies are growing up too fast! In a week they will be 18 months old, a true 1 1/2 years old! I wish I could slow down time, but we are having so much fun! Being a parent is the best gift we have ever received. We look forward to everyday, watching you grow and learn new things. Your words, actions, and ability leave us going to bed each night thanking God for two healthy happy little babies toddlers.

Mable Rose & Ruby Claire, you are loved!

Well Check Up

The girls had their well check up a couple days ago. We were behind on getting their 15 month old shots. It seemed like one of them either had a cold or ear infection making it so we could not get shots. Now that Ruby has tubes we are hoping those days are long gone.
The Well Check Up was a combination of 15 mos. and 18 mos. Even though the girls are 17 mos. they went ahead and gave the shots they would need in a couple weeks.
We were asked a lot of questions about development. Most of them yes or no answers. The girls checked out well and are doing great as far as growth and being on target.
Here are the stats for our sweet 17 month olds!

Ruby Claire, you weigh 21 pounds 3.5 ounces. You are in the 58% for weight. You are 32.5 inches and are in the 80% for height.

Mable Rose, you weigh 18 pounds 11.5 ounces. You are in the 29% for weight. You are 30.6 inches and are in the 26% for height.

I tired to get some pictures of the girls while we waited. Not as easy as it use to be! Here is what I got.

Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day by having a low key day at home. Just what Eric wanted, a day with his family.
Pawpaw (my dad) and Uncle Gabe were in town to help celebrate.
The girls gave their Daddy a paper weight that had their foot print on it and a bible verse. He also got a little craft we painted for him, and all the grandparents. A gift card to get his car washed and one to buy wine. I knew he would love his cheesy Worlds Greatest Dad shirt and Hat! He even sported it out to lunch! :)

We love our Daddy! He's the best!

Big-a-boo!

That's the way Ruby says Peek-a-boo. Sometimes it's even Big-a-billy!
Both girls love playing this game! They really like when Daddy plays and they cover his face with a lovie.

They crack up when they pull it away and yell, Big-a-boo!

Phone Pics!

My girls love Sesame Street!

I took the girls to Lowe's the other day. It was the only Lowe's I have ever be to that did not have a double cart! I improvised! Notice the shopping basket rigged to hold items and the 2x4 on the underside of the cart.

We recently ordered a couch for the playroom from Target. We still have not thrown away the box. The girls are loving their makeshift playhouse!

Swinging, a favorite past time of the girls!

Saturday we headed over to the Blair's for dinner. Our friends from Shreveport, The David's, came in town and brought their son, Henry. The kids all played so well together! We had a great time visiting with everyone!

Ruby and I were taking pictures this afternoon. This was the face I captured! Ha!

We jamming, we jamming, we jamming!!

A First!

This morning we walked in to get the girls out of their beds. Guess what Ruby was missing? A Diaper!

Fun Friday!

Today was a lot of fun! The girls are out of school for a week during their "transition" period. This means I will be working and chasing the kiddos around. We had a practice run today. Since yesterday was month end and today is Friday, it was a pretty easy work day.
This morning we went to the park. For lunch Daddy came home and we went to Chick fil la. After nap time we went swimming at one of our neighborhood pools and for dinner we had Ricos.
Here's some pictures of our fun filled day!
